If you are the kind of person who does not want to spend your life working for someone else, making them richer and richer in the process, but you want to work and build health for yourself and your family, then chances are you want to be an entrepreneur.

It’s also likely that you do not know how to get started as your own boss. Being an entrepreneur is not easy and unless you know someone who has been there, done this, and is willing to share with you, it can seem like a mysterious process to undergo.

Not only that but it can seem impossible to know where to start, especially when you don’t exactly have a revolutionary idea or thousands of dollars to invest. But you know what? Anyone who is serious about becoming an entrepreneur can become an entrepreneur.

Below, you will find some simple. Low-cost ways to get started as an entrepreneur. These ideas might not be ones you stick with yr whole life or even more than a few months, but they will help you to start making money on your own terms, learning what it takes to be an entrepreneur in the process. So, what are you waiting for?

1. Buy and sell

One of the easiest ways to get started in entrepreneurship is to simply start by buying various products and selling them on. There are a number of ways you can do this from looking for storage unit auctions nearby that you can bid on, resell and hopefully make a profit with to bulk buying t-shirts and selling them online. No matter how small your startup capital will be, there will always be something you can buy and sell on, so this is a simple place to start.

2. Improve on an existing idea

If you want to launch your own products instead of selling someone else, instead of trying to come up with a revolutionary new product that has the same impact as the iPod did on a generation, start small; think of a product you use regularly and brainstorm as many ways as possible to make that better.

For example. Once we only had manual can openers, which could be tricky for people to use if they had arthritis or were left-handed, for example. Now we have electronic can openers that can do the work for us and ensure everyone has access to the canned goods they wish to open. This was not a revolutionary invention but it was an invention that improved an existing product in such a way to make it attractive. Maybe you can do the same for another product?

3. Join a startup

Joining a startup might not sound like a good idea when you want to run your own business, at first, but many people who join startups end up working their way up and being given, or investing in shares in the company. They can easily end up at the head of a business with a little hard work and dedication, and if that doesn’t happen, then at least you will have learned a whole lot about what it takes to run a startup.

4. Crowdfund

If you have a great idea for a new product or service that you are confident will be popular with your target audience, then launching your own crowdfunding campaign could enable you to raise the money you need to make your products and launch your own company.

You will need to put together a great pitch, so you should only go down this route if your product has been developed as fully as possible, but if you really do have a good idea, then this could be the making of you as an entrepreneur.

5. Buy a business

If you have a little more money available to you, then buying an already established business – website-based businesses tend to be much cheaper – could be a good way to launch your entrepreneurship as you will be able to dive right in with a ready-made company that is already trading and which has all of the information you need to keep it going. As time goes on, you can make any changes you want to the business to ensure it is more in keep[ing with your plans, but in those early days, having the barebones established can make things so much simpler.

Every successful entrepreneur has to start somewhere, so why not start with one of these simple ideas to get you into the business mindset?
