Happy first day of school! Here in Ontario, we do it old-school and students don’t go back to class until they day after Labour Day. Learning, though, happens all year long and takes many forms.
The expansion of apprenticeship programs in an international drive to attract more young people to careers in the skilled trades is starting to gain traction in other industries too. Today, Denver-based entrepreneur Andy Seth announced the launch of his own apprenticeship programs at Flow, his content marketing business, and Ravience, his customer service business.
The programs will run through, Apprentix, an online apprenticeship management portal.
“I want to inspire other modern leaders to take their existing training programs, make some tweaks, and turn them into apprenticeships,” said Seth. “There are so many incredible business benefits to implementing this structure – including diversifying your candidate pool, lowering recruiting costs, and developing your employees’ skills to your company’s exact needs.”
LinkedIn has been expanding its reach into professional development since its acquisition of Lynda.com for $1.5 billion US in 2015. The social networking site for professionals started back-to-school month with the launch of several new tools and works of analysis surrounding the idea of future-proofing careers.

Canadian Nexus Team Ventures Corp has initiated a Strategic Review with a view to enhancing shareholder value.
The board of directors will lead the Strategic Review which could involve the sale of all or part of its portfolio assets, a merger or any other strategic business combination with another party. The board is also considering the forming of a separate company to hold its mining assets and other strategic initiatives.
The news comes with the announcement that the company has accepted Martin Pow;s resignation as COO.
“Within our current portfolio of diversified assets, the Company is seeking to streamline its holdings by identifying non-core lower growth assets which will reduce carrying, compliance, administrative and management costs.
