B2B News for Tuesday, June 14, 2022: CoachHub Gets Cash Infusion. Survey Says Americans Don’t Trust Corporate Climate Pledges

CoachHub, a digital coaching platform, has now closed a $200M US Series C funding round. The round, led by Sofina and SoftBank Vision Fund 2, will be used to further scale CoachHub’s product innovation, operations and global expansion. The cash infusion follows an $80M round eight months ago.

The investment comes as coaching comes to the fore in the development of leadership skills for a new era.

“As workplaces continue adapting to the new normal of hybrid and remote models, leaders need individual support and solutions to boost employee performance, engagement and motivation, while keeping wellbeing at the forefront,” said Matti Niebelschuetz, Co-founder of CoachHub. “Digital coaching offers these benefits and more, resulting in spiking global demand for CoachHub’s services.”

The push to grow L&D is based on individual needs, not group courses.

“The Learning and Development sector is witnessing strong secular trends toward the digitization and personalization of services,” said Yanni Pipilis, Managing Partner at SoftBank Investment Advisers. “CoachHub’s digital platform aims to provide a tailored coaching experience to employees at all levels to help advance their careers. We are pleased to partner with the CoachHub team to support their mission of democratizing coaching.”

The eVTOL industry has been rather quiet since 2020.  There is a sign of activity this morning. Archer Aviation Inc. has announced the appointment of Tom Anderson as Chief Operating Officer of its Urban Air Mobility efforts. A handful of companies are looking at drone-based air taxi services. Anderson will oversee Archer’s planned UAM operations and establish its commercial operating service.

“I’ve spent my entire career focused on developing and scaling commercial aviation operations. I’m thrilled to join Archer at this pivotal juncture to help the company continue to innovate and redefine the future of transportation,” said Anderson. “I am looking forward to advancing the company towards its commercial launch, capitalizing on the company’s strategic partnerships and introducing the public to the benefits of urban air mobility.”

“For urban air mobility to become a reality, it’s critical that we focus not only on building and certifying a great product, but also on creating the ecosystem within which our aircraft can operate,” said Adam Goldstein, Founder and CEO of Archer. “Tom’s appointment moves Archer one step closer towards bringing urban air mobility to the masses, and transforming cities for the better.”

Can corporations be trusted to reduce carbon emissions? Not according to 60% of US citizens. According to a survey conducted by FuelCell Energy Inc., Americans have significant concerns about the environment, are skeptical about company climate pledges and carbon credit purchase programs. They also have mixed views on how to make the biggest impact to meet tomorrow’s energy and environmental goals.

Key findings from the survey include:

  • 58% of people feel that when companies pledge to achieve net-zero emissions that these are empty promises or will only happen if mandated by the government.
  • 41% of respondents feel that when a brand’s approach to carbon reduction is primarily focused on purchasing carbon credits, it’s a good start, but the brand should be doing more to achieve authentic solutions.
