Develop a Plan

If you can, you need to focus on developing a business plan. If you want to figure out the best tasks to delegate then one way you can do this would be to conduct an audit of your workload so you can make a list of all of the duties you need to offload. While it may be tempting for you to delegate a lot of your smaller tasks, such as transcribing meetings or even scheduling phone calls, you need to make sure that you’re focusing on other things too. If your organization embarks on a time-sensitive project then you may be able to hire someone to help you with this. Hiring a project manager could be the way to go too, because you can check in with them regularly while making sure that you are always having a good idea of where you stand overall.

Choose the Right Person

Everyone has certain tasks that they struggle with because they don’t come as easily as they do to other people. You may find writing quarterly reports very difficult but you may find graphic design to be very easy. Either way, if you want to help yourself then you need to understand both your strengths and your weaknesses. Before you assign a task, be sure to get to know your team members so you can learn about their duties and then match them with something that may be more appropriate. Learn about the interests and the passions of other people too so you can always play to the strengths of your team. You may want to assign some tasks to some staff members who excel in that field too. Either way, choosing the right person is critical. You may also want to think about outsourcing your IT if you can. If you can do this then you will see a notable improvement in everything you do.

Provide Training

If your team lacks a particular skill then you need to avoid getting stuck in the mindset that you’re the only one who can do the job right. Even if nobody on your team is capable of doing a task, you need to give them the right level of training so you can either pass on your knowledge or you can at least cover the cost of training. If you can do this then you will be able to recoup your money at a later date and you can also feel confident knowing that you’re always going to be able to get the job done with confidence. In the earlier days, it will take way longer to show someone how to navigate software or how to get things done but if you take the time to show them then you will soon find that it is easier for you to not only get the result you want, but to benefit yourself in the future because of it.
