3.Temperature/Expansion Joints: In massive concrete structures subject to thermal expansion or contraction, temperature joints with steel dowels compensate for dimensional changes. These joints help reduce internal stresses during temperature fluctuations.

Apart from strategic bar placement, ensuring adequate concrete cover over reinforcement is essential for maximizing its durability. Concrete cover acts as a protective layer shielding rebar from external elements like moisture, chemicals, carbonation, and corrosion-causing agents.
