Hello Gentle Reader,
It is with a heavy heart that I’ve decided to step away from editing this Newsletter for the #PWD community. I thought I could manage my time loss issues, I thought I could provide insight and a unique perspective on how Policy decisions affect real lives, I thought I could accept all outcomes with a semblance of balance. I was wrong.
Thursday’s abysmal, destructive, death-affirming Ontario provincial election results were the final nail in this coffin. I am far too angry to provide any type of objective reaction to the plight of #PWD across Canada. This Newsletter needs the guiding hand of someone that can be objective in the face of atrocity after atrocity after atrocity. I am not that person.
I have seen persons blame everyone except the actual voters for the results: “progressive” Leaders and their parties, low voter turnout, advanced polling confusion, COVID, etc.. This happened because Ontarions voted to let it happen. They wanted “change”, but not at the expense of losing whatever positive outcomes they thought Ford & Co. would bring them. Some want progress on social issues, but not enough to tip the balance of Power in their favour. Don’t blame the message, the media, or the platform. Blame your neighbour, blame your family members, blame yourself – if you found that you couldn’t vote for someone because you “didn’t like their position on X” and ended up with a government that will provide nothing progressive for the next four years.
I cannot, in good faith, attempt to provide objectivity when I see members of my own #PWD community vote for dealers in death while claiming to want life.
I have no words of wisdom for you. I leave you with this: Own your shit.
Tread softly, Gentle Reader.
