B2B News for Friday, January 14, 2022: Global Consumer Survey, Dealing with e-Waste, Hybrid Office Support

Online marketplaces are becoming consumers’ first preference for online shopping. That’s according to the Mirakl consumer survey The 2022 State of Online Marketplace Adoption released yesterday.

The survey tracked 9,000 global consumers on their shopping habits and preferences. There were 1000 respondents from each country including Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.  According to the results, the eCommerce landscape has pivoted in response to consumer expectations of rapid delivery, product quality and variety, and lower pricing. Two-thirds of the consumers surveyed prefer eCommerce sites with online marketplaces, and 70% say online marketplaces are the most convenient way to shop.

“This first global study on consumer preferences for marketplaces offers important insights for retailers as they evolve their eCommerce strategies for a post-pandemic economy,” said Adrien Nussenbaum, co-founder and co-CEO of Mirakl. “The survey results clearly indicate that consumers want more of their favorite retailers to launch online marketplaces with third-party sellers. In today’s ‘always-on’ retail economy, shoppers prize the competitive prices, increased variety and faster shipping times that only online marketplaces can deliver. Moreover, this preference is strongest among retailers’ most valuable shoppers.”

Cambridge-based Greentec is the first Canadian company to receive R2v3. The certification represents the latest standards set by Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI).

The negative environmental impact of e-waste and the prevalence of data security threats they present are changing how e-waste is managed. R2v3 aims to reduce these risks across the electronics industry.

“The electronics industry is changing at an incredibly rapid pace, and it is the responsibility of e-waste processors to stay up to date with this evolution,” said Greentec’s Compliance Officer Rebecca Herman. “As the last line of defense during the destruction, recycling and disposal of old technology, Greentec takes our clients’ environmental and data security requirements seriously. We are thrilled to be receiving this certification and would like to thank the entire Greentec team for their hard work as we continue to lead the charge in Canada’s e-waste management efforts.”
